Studio: chalkboard discoveries

Making a very smooth chalk board (to about 300 grit):
- sanding painted surfaces: if the sandpaper clogs, chalk the surface first
- fine sanding: chalk as an abrasive grinds to about 300 grit

Has switched locations several times, by now - though I think it's important for people to have uh, justifications? :)

Notes

1. the physical world is 'specular' rather than 'linear'
2. few artists will say backgrounds aren't an 'issue'? (to say the very least?)
3. res up and 'render til you drop'
4. you're crunching form, ambient light and atmospherics all at once ;)
